A Coffin in Egypt

“So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.”  Genesis 50:26 KJV

Just a short thought today.  Joseph is a character that we often hear about in Sunday School or perhaps a sermon here or there.  The coat of many colors!  Wow what a story, a victom of jelousy, sold into slavery by his own brothers, imprisioned, then given the kingdom for the most part.
All things considered the most amazing part of the story isn't that he was sold, or that he interpreted the dreams of the men in prison.  No it wasn't that he made a good situation out bad more often than most of us would, the most amazing part of the story is that he forgave.  His own brothers come back to him fullfilling the dream that he once had which was the cause of them sending him off.  Joseph could have had them all imprissoned if not killed yet he chose to forgive.

Genesis 50:26 says it all.  This is the last verse of the chapter, the last chapter in the life of Joseph.  Could it be that Joseph knew that it would ultimatly end in a coffin?  Could it be that he realized early on that in the end he would take nothing with him?

Be encouraged today, forgive someone that has wronged you.  Let go of the baggage of life and the pursuit of "things" knowing that in the end the only thing that lasts is the eternal.  If you don't attend a church, find one.  If you hold on to bitterness, envy, strife, let go of it all and let God direct your path because at the end of this life we ultimately will have our coffin and then........?
